HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A Humboldt woman is arrested after police say she left her 70-year-old mother, a stroke victim, alone without access to water or food. Velma Evonne Bueno, aka Velma Evonne Martinez, 38, was arrested after police performed a welfare check at Westhaven Mobile Home Park. Officers determined the woman had been left alone all day in a trailer where she lived with Bueno, her daughter. The mother is a stroke victim and unable to walk or care for herself, according to a release from the police department. The trailer was piled with garbage and there was animal feces on the floor, the release states. Bueno was charged with prohibited willful abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult and transported to the Gibson County Criminal Complex in Trenton.
