JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the Jackson Police Department’s Explorer Program were honored Tuesday by city leaders. The program allows young people interested in law enforcement to get hands-on experience by doing everything from patrolling to writing reports to learning defensive tactics. The program is also aimed at teaching leadership skills and the responsibilities that go along with service. “These are a wonderful group of people,” said Lt. Ron Adams with the Jackson Police Department. “We have got them from 14 to 21 years of age, and they are all really dedicated and at this point of their life feel like they are interested in a career in law enforcement, and we are trying to encourage them.” If you know someone who is interested, the Jackson Police Department conducts recruiting twice a year, in the spring and in the fall.
