JACKSON, Tenn. — When the temperature drops, older adults run a higher risk of health problems and injuries related to the weather. During our last round of winter storms, there were more than a dozen deaths reported across Tennessee, and most of the victims were older. That’s why local nurses are encouraging you to look out for your older neighbors “It’s very important as the community, if there is anyone elderly or disabled in your town, that we go in and check on them, and as we are doing that make sure that they have adequate, safe heat as well as food and running water,” said Danna Jones, a registered nurse.
