SOUTH JACKSON — Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in South Jackson. Fire officials say the two people inside escaped without injury, and neighbors said they saw them running across the yard when the fire broke out. The fire occurred at a home on Meadowbrook Drive. Firefighters said oxygen was in use inside the home but that the tanks were in the rear of the home and therefore not a factor. Officials say at this time it appears the fire started with a dryer in the carport of the home. The carport collapsed onto two vehicles inside. The call for the fire went out just before 7:30 p.m. WBBJ will have more details as they become available.
