Springing forward is also good time to check smoke alarms

COUNCE, Tenn. — Residents in Counce escaped from a fire in their home thanks to their smoke detectors. Firefighters said this serves as a reminder to everyone to make sure batteries are working properly. A home in Counce caught fire Sunday morning where first responders said two people were asleep inside the home when they woke up to the sound of the smoke alarm. Because of that alarm, the family and two pets were able to make it out safely.
