Man charged with assault on officer

JACKSON, Tenn.-A Jackson man made a court appearance Monday on several charges including assault on a police officer. According to the affidavit, officers were called to the 100 block of Stonewall Street around 11:30 a.m. Sunday on a report of shots being fired. When they arrived, officers said they found Billy Mullin Jr., 19, carrying a revolver. The report states officers also found Mullin with a pair of brass knuckles, a substance that appeared to be marijuana and a bag containing what looked like cocaine in his pockets. As he was being placed in the patrol car, the affidavit said Mullin kicked the arresting officer and at one point threw his entire body against the officer. Mullin was charged with reckless endangerment, drug and weapon charges and simple assault on a law enforcement officer.
