JACKSON, Tenn. – West Tennesseans proudly sported orange on Tuesday night to hear University of Tennessee head football coach Butch Jones. The Volunteers football leader visited Jackson on Monday for Sacred Heart’s Benefit Banquet. “Anytime you can get to West Tennessee is very special,” said Jones about his first trip to the area. As a keynote speaker, Jones’ message centered around Christian leadership. He told the audience about the culture he wants his players to embody at UT. “Football is life, but just sped up a lot faster. There are so many lessons when you talk about the one second rule. In one second your life can change. Its all about making the right choices.” Jones lead the Volunteers to their first bowl win last season since 2007. UT toppled Iowa 48-25 in the Tax Slayer Bowl.
