JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s not just a musical instrument — a “Magic Flute” came to Jackson on Wednesday. It’s part of a new program through the Jackson Symphony. Combining a bird catcher, a princess, three ladies with magical powers and a few monsters, this 20-minute comedy performance of Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute” is designed to help spread the magic of music to those of all ages at the Therapy and Learning Center. “You know there are people here at Therapy and Learning Center that everybody is helping every day, and we get a chance to come in and put a smile on their faces and expose them to classical music, and it’s a mission, really,” said Peter Shannon, music director for the Jackson Symphony. Accompanying singers are mostly Union University students. The goal is to make this a monthly event.
