HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — West Tennessee officers search for suspects responsible in a string of recent burglaries spanning three counties. Among the things taken were pricey electronics and a number of guns. The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office said there have been more than three home burglaries in the past week. One of the victims said she believes they all are connected and that they will be ready if they strike again. “It’s horrifying to come home and find your door kicked in and your stuff been taken,” resident William Adams said. Investigators said the burglaries took place throughout Haywood, Tipton and Fayette counties. “I locked myself out of my house and I was going to break into it on my own, then I saw the puppy walking out and someone had kicked the door in.” Amy Coulston said. Coulston said after walking in, she found her home in shambles — electronics and 10 guns missing. “They raided the kids room, our room,” Coulston said. “I found mattresses off the bed and drawers open.” With these burglars still on the run, area residents said they will be keeping an eye out. “Presence is kind of a deterrent,” Adams said. “Keep more lights on and stuff so people can see what’s going on in the neighborhood.” But after her home was hit, Coulston said she was not taking any more chances. “We have cameras being bought right now,” Coulston said. “We’re setting them up all through the house.” All three sheriff’s offices said they are working together to find those responsible. But Coulston said she believes they all are connected and that it is a person she is familiar with. “It don’t really scare me. It makes me mad because we have an idea of who it is,” Coulston said. “So it’s more of they should be watching themselves.” Coulston said she believes whoever burglarized her home also knew where to find everything because all of the guns in the house where in a locker in the basement.
