DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman appeared Friday in Jackson court on accusations of stealing and damaging an SUV. Ella Hayes is accused of stealing a Jeep Wrangler someone had rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Jackson. The Jeep was reported stolen Dec. 29, and police found it the next day on North Royal Street with Hayes behind the wheel, according to an affidavit. The Jeep had damage to the front end estimated at more than $2,300, the document states. Police say the license plate had been removed and a temporary tag belonging to Hayes was found in the driver’s side door panel. Hayes is charged with theft of property over $10,000 and vandalism over $1,000. She was issued a $10,000 bond.
