JACKSON, Tenn. — Saturday morning, hundreds from all across the region will be competing in the 43rd annual Andrew Jackson Marathon. Friday night, the rain could not dampen the spirits of about 40 kids who took the spotlight in the Kids Marathon at Union University. It was the final mile that kids, 8th grade and younger, have been working toward for the marathon. One young runner told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News about her experience. “I enjoyed it because I can actually get a few accomplishments because I’ve done soccer, but I haven’t really done many races,” participant Sara Gibson said. All the kids in the race received a finisher’s medal. The money raised by the marathon will benefit the child abuse prevention programs of the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center.
