JACKSON, Tenn. — A historic tourist site in Jackson celebrated another milestone Saturday by adding another candle to the cake. Staff at the Casey Jones museum celebrated what would be the engineer’s 152nd birthday. Coordinators said they made it a family friendly event with cake, face painting and toys for the kids. Director of Museum Operations Jimmy Bailey said it was a big day sharing the story of Jones, a railroad engineer in the 1900s turned hero after slowing his train just enough for passengers to escape before it crashed into another train. “He has been a legend in our city for a long time, and most Jacksonians don’t know everything about Casey. So I’m learning something new every day that I’m here,” Bailey said. Bailey said it was a successful day and that they hope to make the museum more interactive to appeal to a younger generation.
