MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Madison County commissioners voted Monday to create a long-range planning committee to oversee the goals of the commission. The new committee will include seven members, one each from the budget, finance and capitol committees, the county mayor, county finance director and two other commissioners. Some believe the new committee will help keep the group on the same page with their goals. “We need to have a cohesive group that works together to gather all the data, that we can come back and make an informed decision based on the research and insight that we got from other people,” said Commissioner Ann Harrell. Commissioners elected Jerry Bastin and Luther Mercer as the at-large members of the committee. The committee’s other members will be announced at April’s commissioners’ meeting.
