HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A California man charged in a violent Wednesday attempted bank robbery in Humboldt previously has served time in prison on kidnapping, robbery and other convictions, according to an affidavit. Dominic Williams is charged with attempted bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a violent crime after allegedly shooting an employee during an attempted robbery at BancorpSouth. According to the documents, Williams has admitted to FBI agents that he had noticed a woman who worked at the bank opening the bank alone and noted what time she arrived at work. That woman was Janeice Frisbee. He said he had been in Humboldt about a month and had come from California. He said he decided to rob the bank Wednesday. Williams allegedly admitted to walking to the woman’s home, approaching her outside and forcing her at gunpoint to drive to the bank and unlock the front doors. “Janeice is just one of the sweetest people on the planet,” said Jessica Alsobrook, a friend of Frisbee’s. “She is sweet, she is smart and during the whole thing she was probably one of the calmest people.” The affidavit goes on to state that Williams admitted to becoming frustrated when the employee was unable to open the safe and that the gun then “went off.” The gun was fired three times, hitting Frisbee in the chest, the document states. “One bullet hit a medallion that hit her on the front, which had stopped the bullet but broke her sternum,” Alsobrook said. “Another bullet hit her shoulder and went above her heart.” Frisbee was taken to a Memphis hospital by helicopter. She returned home Thursday evening. “As her friend said that I had talked to earlier in the day — and I think this sums it up — the Lord said this is not your day,” Sheena Hardin said. Williams also allegedly told investigators he fled through a back window before trying to bury the gun under leaves and discard items in a nearby dumpster including a mask, jacket and bag. The papers say Williams was apprehended by Humboldt Police Chief Rob Ellis about three blocks from the bank. Investigators recovered a loaded .40-caliber Glock handgun, a black glove, a roll of duct tape, sunglasses and spent cartridge shells. Authorities say more charges may be forthcoming.
