Jackson mayoral candidate has 72 hours to take signs down

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson mayoral candidate has 72 hours to take down his campaign signs that were displayed too early, but the deadline coincides with the day they will be legally allowed, according to city officials. City sign enforcement official James Maholmes said he had reached out to mayoral candidate Tim York Thursday about removing the signs, which have been up since Tuesday. Maholmes said they’re hoping York will act in good faith and take the signs down. However, he said if York doesn’t comply, nothing will happen because the 72-hour window ends March 21, when the signs will be allowed. He also said they waited until Thursday to contact York because they were hoping he’d take the signs down on his own accord. Maholmes also said no one has filed a complaint against York.
