Owner of Jackson tax service indicted on 123 counts

JACKSON, Tenn. — A 123-count indictment was handed down Tuesday against the operator of Carol’s Income Tax Service in Jackson. Federal prosecutors say 42-year-old Carol Munoz prepared fraudulent tax returns. She faces counts including preparing false tax returns, money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, She is believed to have operated the service out of a home on Copper Ridge Cove in north Jackson between April 2010 and April 2013. Prosecutors say she claimed false dependents on returns to get additional refund dollars.
