Janeice Frisbee: ‘God wasn’t through with me yet’

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Almost one week after an attempted bank robbery in Humboldt left Janeice Frisbee with multiple gunshot wounds, she is still on the road to recovery. Frisbee said she has experienced miracle after miracle during and after Wednesday’s attempted bank robbery. From her necklace that some said saved her life, to the events that led to Dominic Williams being put into cuffs, Frisbee said she believes there was a higher power watching over the whole situation. “It just wasn’t my time to go,” Frisbee said. “God wasn’t through with me yet.” It is a story that many, including the victim herself, are calling a miracle. “This is one of those incidents where a lot of things could have gone different and it would have gone wrong,” Frisbee said. “But everything happened exactly the way it should have.” On March 18, Janeice Frisbee was getting ready to head to work at the Bancorp South branch in Humboldt, just like she has for the past 20 years. But when she stepped outside she was greeted by a man with a gun. “I wasn’t going to be able to do what he wanted me to do, and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to,” Frisbee said. “So I felt like he was going to shoot me, and I was just going to try to make the best out of it that I could.” In less than five minutes, Frisbee said Dominic Williams had shot her twice because she could not open the bank’s vault. “One hit the necklace and deflected off, and one went in my shoulder inside my chest and all the way across to my heart and came out above my heart,” Frisbee said. Frisbee said the first .40-caliber bullet passed right through her body without hitting anything vital. The second was deflected by the necklace she was wearing, which she put on at the last minute Wednesday morning. “It must have hit it from an angle and bounced off,” Frisbee said. “That’s what the FBI said, and it didn’t even break the necklace.” One day after the shooting Frisbee was home from the hospital, and now almost a week later she’s on the fast track to recovery with a little help from her friends. “They’re sending cards, letters, flowers, gifts cards — I’m just so amazed,” Frisbee said. “I didn’t even know I knew this many people.” And although there still are hurdles to jump, she is excited for the next chapter in her life. “We’re going to see what God holds for me, because I know it’s something good,” Frisbee said. “He didn’t pull me out for something small.” Frisbee said she plans to go on a cruise vacation next month with her entire family and plans to eventually go back to work at the bank.
