Local group awards students for participating in reading program

NORTH JACKSON — The local chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented certificates Thursday to three classes at the Bemis Montessori School of Jackson. Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR chapter regent Jan Bynum and chapter librarian Mandy Williams presented certificates to three classes of students. The students were recognized for their participation in the “Read 100 Books in 30 Minutes to Mark the First 100 Days of School.” The kindergarten classes that participated are taught by Bridgett Andrews, Krista O‘Daniel and Carolyn Bredowsky. Also present for the ceremony were school principal Melinda Harris and school librarian Jessica Donnell. The Jackson-Madison County chapter of NSDAR was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history and support education. Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR was chartered in April 1901 and is one of the oldest and most active chapters in the state of Tennessee.
