Sheriff: Woman with knife scared burglar away

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — For the fifth time in three weeks, an unidentified gunman has broken into a home in Haywood County. The sheriff’s department says the incident happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Highway 70 in Stanton. The victim told deputies a man knocked on her front door and then kicked it in, wielding a gun. Investigators say the woman had armed herself with a knife, which caused the intruder to back away and leave. Currently no arrests have been made and there is no description of the gunman.
