JACKSON, Tenn. — Time is running out for Tennessee tax filers. Wednesday is that often-procrastinated-toward deadline to get in your tax information. Local tax service sites, many of which will stay open later to meet the annual “tax time demand,” have seen an expected rise in customers coming through their doors this week. Officials say the biggest trip-up most filers face is forgetting to mention major life changes — marriages, divorces or other events that change the way a tax return is filled out. “Make sure that you are receiving all the benefits and credits,” tax expert Amanda Hass said. “A lot of people will omit those out of their return not knowing that they are eligible because of some life changes.” According to a study done by WalletHub, the IRS is anticipating 150 million individual tax returns to be filed this year, nearly 140 million of which were filed in the last two and a half months.
