UTM’s Atheltic Director joins NCAA Oversight Committee
MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin’s athletic director Julio Freire is assuming an important role in women’s college basketball. The Skyhawks AD has been selected as one of 12 members on the NCAA Women‘s Basketball Oversight Committee. “It is obviously a tremendous honor and responsibility but more importantly it is a platform to help not only our university and the OVC but all mid-major institutions,” said Freire in the school’s news release. “I am thankful to Commissioner DeBauche for the confidence to nominate me and to the NCAA for selecting me.” Freire’s new duties include enhancing the development and public perception of women’s basketball and making recommendations related to regular season and postseason.
