CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — One West Tennessee city is hoping a face-lift will encourage business owners to invade their downtown area. Henderson is planning to change the way residents see downtown. Upgrades to the Chester County city will help the area be more accessible to people with disabilities as well as repair some street lights. The mayor of Henderson says the city is making the investment to motivate others to do the same “We are asking people to come back downtown,” Mayor Bobby King said. “We are asking people to open up businesses downtown, and if the city is not willing to invest with downtown, how can you ask your local merchants to invest in downtown?” The cost of the renovations is estimated to be $1.2 million.
