Big lineup announced for Nashville’s new amphitheater
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Nashville’s new riverfront amphitheater will open July 30 with a headline show by seven-time Grammy nominee Eric Church, ushering in an inaugural outdoor concert season featuring big names from past and present.
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and Live Nation announced Thursday that Chicago and Earth Wind & Fire would play opening weekend at the newly named Ascend Amphitheater. The acts lined up to play at the Ascend Amphitheater concert season include: singer Jill Scott, Phish, the Counting Crows, Widespread Panic, The Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, Steely Dan and Elvis Costello, Peter Frampton, Cheap Trick and Old Crow Medicine Show.
Tickets to the inaugural season go on sale starting April 30.
The new downtown amphitheater will hold 6,800 people and will be home to the Nashville Symphony’s outdoor concert series.
