DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in court Monday after allegedly swerving his vehicle toward his child and the child’s mother outside a Jackson restaurant. David Underwood is accused of intentionally steering his vehicle toward his 11-year-old daughter and her mother after turning the girl over to her mother’s custody, according to court papers. The woman told police if she had not jumped out of the way she would have been hit. Witnesses also provided statements to police, according to an affidavit. Underwood is charged with aggravated domestic assault and reckless endangerment. He waived his formal arraignment and is now scheduled to appear June 1.
