Union names new interim dean of business school

NORTH JACKSON — Union University has announced the selection of the interim dean of the college’s business school. Bill Nance has been appointed as interim dean of the McAfee School of Business Administration, according to a release from the university. Nance has served as the school’s associate dean since August 2010 and steps into the interim dean position following the death of Keith Absher on March 24, the release states. Absher had been dean since 2004. “Bill Nance is a strategic thinker, effective leader and excellent teacher,” Union Provost C. Ben Mitchell states in the release. “We are very grateful that he is willing to step up to the challenge.” Nance joined the Union faculty in 1999 as an instructor of management before becoming an assistant professor of management in 2001 and an associate professor of management in 2005, the release states. Nance holds a bachelor’s degree from Regis University, an MBA from Union and his doctorate of business administration from Nova Southeastern University, according to the release.
