LEXINGTON, Tenn. – Lexington’s softball team is having an unexpected interruption to their groove. The Lady Big Red Tigers last two games have been canceled. One was a forfeit and another due to health reasons by the other team. “We kind of got jinxed this week on a couple of games. I literally have been from Memphis to Nashville trying to find someone to come and play us for our senior night,” said Lexington head coach Ronnie Burke. “It’s kind of rest by default. I rather play every day this week and stay on top of stuff and not get any rust to us.” Lexington’s next game isn’t until Monday. That’s nine days of rest before their first district tournament game. Their solution to staying sharp is treating every practice seriously. “We’re very intense and focused in practice. We’re just going to carry that on to game-situations,” said senior Brooklyn Hays. Fellow senior Iesha Kizer echoed her teammate’s approach. “We’re practicing really hard. We’re going over plays and trying to make sure we focus on job, so we can get the win,” said Kizer. Lexington plays the winner of South Side and Bolivar on Monday.
