Ruler Foods coming to Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Ruler Foods will open its second store in the state later this year. As a division of Kroger, its selection should be familiar. Store representatives said Ruler is an economically friendly choice for shoppers, who will have to bag their own groceries and rent carts for a quarter. “It’s good for the city,” said resident Laverene Jones. “It’s a new growth, new opportunity, and you’ll have more employers.” Chamber officials said they do not know yet how many new jobs will be created. The new store will be located in the building along East Main Street that housed the Kroger store for many years in Brownsville.
