Women accused of shoplifting as 12-year-old acted as lookout

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Two women were in Jackson City Court Monday on accusations of shoplifting while a 12-year-old girl acted as a lookout. Susan Nicole Hooper and Gwyn Marie Quinn both are charged with shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in two separate incidents at Sears on North Highland Avenue. Police say a 12-year-old girl acted as a lookout during one of the incidents. On April 18, a loss prevention officer saw two women concealing clothing in the bottom compartment of a baby stroller and then leaving the store without paying, according to an affidavit. The value of the merchandise was estimated at $630. On Sunday, the officer saw the same women enter the store and hide clothing in the same manner while another female acted as a lookout, the affidavit states. When they exited the store without paying, the officer recovered more than $500 worth of clothing concealed in the stroller, according to the affidavit. The women were identified as Hooper, Quinn and a 12-year-old female juvenile. Police say the 12-year-old acted as a lookout during the alleged thefts. Hooper and Quinn both are charged with theft over $500 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both women were issued a $7,500 bond each.
