NORTH JACKSON — At Union University, a bell rang 147 times Wednesday as a tribute to the 147 college students who were murdered in April by Islamic terrorists. The art project was created by two art professors at Union as a reminder of persecuted Christians around the world. The project, which is named “Habakkuk’s Wound,” will consist of a trench filled with red sand and solar lights outside the Barefoot Student Union Building. The lights will allow the piece to be visible day and night. One of the school officials says he hopes it serves as an inspiration for people who see it. “And it’s just there to encourage you as you see it to prompt you for a moment of prayer, just to cry out to God for these individuals that are just facing death and also their families that are under tremendous persecution,” said Lee Benson, art professor and chairman of the school’s art department.
