JACKSON, Tenn. — If you’ve sneezed and sniffed more than usual this spring, you’re not alone. Some reports say this allergy season is worse than usual. Doctors say Friday’s rain hopefully will alleviate some of the trouble caused by what experts are calling the “pollen vortex.” Studies say the “pollen phenomenon” started a few months ago.

After a hard winter, most trees are releasing all their pollen at the same time. Even if there’s not a “cure” for pollen pain, local doctors still have some suggestions.. “Antihistamines and decongestants are the mainstay,” Dr. Michael Revelle said. “The things you want to try to avoid are the nasal sprays that potentially could cause your allergies to become worse.” Doctors suggest changes in your diet and smaller remedies such as eating honey and using saline spray can also help.
