JACKSON, Tenn. — U.S. Marshals arrested a man Tuesday who allegedly tied up, beat and robbed his mother the day before Mother’s Day. Auncouis Beard, 38, was arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery, according to Brownsville police. Officers said the investigation started Friday night into Saturday morning with the victim, Beard’s mother. “She wanted him arrested and charged with this, for what he did,” said Capt. Chuck Willis of the Brownsville Police Department. Police said an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers led them to a west Jackson apartment complex. Eyewitnesses said Beard went peacefully, which surprised them after hearing what he is accused of doing. “I saw them bringing this guy out with his hands behind him, handcuffed,” resident Carolyn Beard said. Willis said investigators were still questioning Beard for a motive behind the alleged brutal attack. The only motive presently evident was Beard’s desire for his mother’s cash, cell phone, debit card and food stamp card. Beard is being held without bond at Haywood County Jail until his arraignment Wednesday morning.
