BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A day of compliance checks for registered sex offenders results in one arrest. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Office spend more than 10 hours Thursday performing compliance checks on all 45 registered sex offenders in the Benton County, according to Sheriff Kenny Christopher. The checks resulted in the arrest of one man, William Deerman, 49, on a drug charge. The checks were planned because Friday is graduation day for Benton County schools, the sheriff said. Sheriff Christopher said this is the first time sex offender compliance checks have been done in the county.
