Woman airlifted after Hardeman Co. crash

HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — A woman has been airlifted to Memphis after a traffic accident on Highway 18. The Toone Fire Department received the call at 2:35 p.m. about the wreck at the intersection of Highway 18 and McNeal Road. The fire department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded. According to troopers on scene, a northbound car was on the highway waiting to turn onto McNeal Road with a wrecker waiting behind it when a silver car crashed into the rear end of the wrecker. The woman driving the silver car was taken by helicopter to Regional One hospital in Memphis, according to the THP. There is not yet word on the extent of her injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The highway is open to traffic.
