Burglary victims look to reclaim property recovered by deputies

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The sheriff’s office has been getting many calls after offering to return stolen property recovered during a recent arrest in Beech Bluff. One burglary victim already has recovered property from the loot found by deputies. Megan Petty recovered several items including family heirlooms belonging to her father. “Probably the things that belong to my dad that he’s received from his dad many years ago,” Petty said after reclaiming some of her property at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. “That’s just important to have that back.” Deputies say about 20 people have contacted the department so far to ask about the stolen property. Of those, four people believe they may have found items stolen from them. Deputies hope to return the rest of the stolen property to the rightful owners. If you think something stolen from you could have been recovered, call the sheriff’s office at 731-423-6000 and ask for Sgt. Mack Brown or Sgt. Alphonso Newbern, the investigators working the case. They will arrange to show the property.
