Jackson man accused of chasing mom with scissors

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man went before a judge Friday on charges of trying to stab his mother with a pair of scissors and a screwdriver. Benjamin Grant is accused of becoming angry at his mother before chasing her with scissors and a screwdriver and telling her he would kill her, according to an affidavit. The woman told police she escaped by going into her room and locking the door. Grant then allegedly started hitting the door with a hammer. Police say he still had the hammer when they arrived. Grant was taken into custody and transported for a mental evaluation. He is charged with aggravated domestic assault and domestic vandalism. His bond is set at $2,500.
