County to cover funeral expenses for fallen firefighter

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Madison County commissioners on Monday unanimously approve a motion to cover all funeral costs for fallen volunteer firefighter Chris Blankenship. County Mayor Jimmy Harris presented the proposal Monday morning, saying it is something the county needs to do. The county approved $5,000 to cover costs. Blankenship is the first line-of-duty death for the Madison County Fire Department. He died May 2 as he worked to extinguish a car fire.
