DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman appeared Tuesday in Jackson City Court on accusations of trying to hit her boyfriend with a shovel. Sonya Shutes is charged with aggravated domestic assault in the Monday incident in which she allegedly went to her boyfriend’s East Chester Street home with her son and began arguing, according to an affidavit. The man told police Shutes picked up a 3-foot shovel and threatened him with it before her son jumped in between them to stop her. She also allegedly told the man she could kill him and “they wouldn’t do anything to her,” the document states. Shutes is being held in lieu of a $1,000 bond.
