Tenn. buck harvest limit lowered from 3 to 2

JACKSON, Tenn. — A change in state law means Tennessee deer hunters now will be able to harvest only two white-tailed bucks, down from the previous limit of three. State officials say it will have a positive impact on the percentage of mature deer in the herd. One local resident had this to say about the decision. “I don’t see a problem with lowering it,” Jackson resident Shelia Godwin said. “I’m sorry about the hunters, but when you look at it, you know, if it’s just game, it’s not like it’s for their survival to live.” Only around 1 percent of hunters took the full limit of three bucks during the 2014-2015 hunting season, according to the state website.
