DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A report of marijuana plants sitting in plain view on an apartment balcony landed a Jackson man in court Monday on numerous charges. Fredric Antonio Cole was arrested after police got a call around 3 p.m. Thursday about marijuana plants on the balcony of an apartment in the 1500 block of Hollywood Drive, according to an affidavit. When police arrived, Cole is accused of coming out onto the balcony and starting to destroy the plants. Officers ordered Cole to stop, and he complied and allowed police to come secure the marijuana, the document states. Police obtained a search warrant, and a search of the apartment revealed a loaded Ruger .357 revolver behind a pillow on the couch, about .2 grams of cocaine in the freezer, a plate with cocaine on it in the kitchen along with a digital scale with marijuana residue in a kitchen drawer, according to the affidavit. Cole is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of cocaine, manufacturing marijuana with intent to resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $25,000.
