Police: Officer injured in shots fired call in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting Humboldt police in investigating an incident after one of their officers was injured Monday evening during a shots fired call. Two officers tried to stop a car around 7:30 p.m. Monday on Luck Madden Road just off Highway 79, according to a TBI release. As both officers approached the car, the driver took off, and one of the officers fired shots, the release states. The car was found abandoned a couple miles down the road, and the passenger was later taken into custody, according to the release. Police are still in search of the driver, according to the TBI. One of the officers received a minor injury during the incident, and no one else is believed to have been injured, the release states. The TBI investigation of the shooting is ongoing.
