Man accused of jumping from Jackson hotel balcony to avoid arrest

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was in city court Monday after police say they found more than seven ounces of marijuana in a Jackson hotel room after he jumped off the balcony to escape. Police assisted U.S. Marshals April 8 to execute an arrest warrant on Kourtney Wilson, according to an affidavit. Wilson had two outstanding drug warrants, and officers went to a hotel room in the 1900 block of the U.S. 45 Bypass to arrest him, the document states. When officers knocked on the door, they say Wilson fled the room by jumping off the balcony. A woman inside the room also told them Wilson had jumped from the balcony. While searching the room, police found two mason jars containing marijuana along with some marijuana wrapped in plastic and a third jar with marijuana residue, according to the affidavit. The total amount of marijuana was 7.7 ounces, the document states. Wilson is charged with evading arrest and possession of marijuana with intent. He is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
