JACKSON, Tenn. — Regional Inter-Faith Association announced Tuesday that the nonprofit’s 11th annual Canstruction event will feature the musician Steven Curtis Chapman. The Contemporary christian artist was named as the entertainment for the September fundraiser at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Along with raising money, the event brings in thousands of pounds of food for the RIFA food bank and soup kitchen. Each participating team builds a structure out of non-perishable food that goes to feed the hungry. “This event is our signature fundraising event that we have been working to grow every year,” said Lisa Tillman, executive director of RIFA. “By moving it over to the civic center last year, this is kind of taking the event to the next level.” The Canstruction teams will build their structures on Sept. 15, and the awards banquet and concert will take place Sept. 17.
