Egg price hike could mean bigger breakfast bill

JACKSON, Tenn. — Maybe you’ve noticed the price of eggs is going up. Experts say it has to do with a bird flu that’s killed millions of chickens, and it’s affecting breakfast prices right here in Jackson. Tim Throne, general manager of Latham’s Meat Company, says their cost of putting eggs on his breakfast bar could soon force a price increase for the morning meal. Some supermarket operators say the cost of a whole egg has doubled. Throne says they haven’t made any changes to the menu just yet, but they are hoping the egg crisis ends before they have to.
