Man accused of stealing flip-flops from dollar store while dressed as woman
DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man in court Friday is accused of stealing a pair of flip-flops from a Jackson retailer. Patrick Merriweather faces a theft charge after police say he stole the flip-flops from a dollar store on South Royal Street, according to court papers. An employee at the store told police May 25 that a man dressed as a woman had taken a pair of black flip-flops valued at about $6 from the store without paying, according to an affidavit. Police say the incident was captured on security video. Merriweather was developed as a suspect, and an employee of the store identified him from a photo lineup, the document states. He is charged with theft under $500. He is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
