Man arrested on gun charge; later accused of sneaking items into jail

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man went before a judge Friday in city court on accusations of illegally possessing a handgun and later bringing contraband into jail. Brandon Eatmon was arrested around 10 p.m. Thursday outside a restaurant in the 2000 block of North Highland Avenue, according to an affidavit. Eatmon had warrants through the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and officers say they found a .9 mm handgun in the vehicle he was in, the document states. Eatmon is a convicted felon, according to the affidavit. After being taking to jail, officers say Eatmon was found to have a single round of ammunition, a syringe and a screwdriver in his possession. Eatmon is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. The judge issued Eatmon a $200,000 bond, and he is ordered to be held for the sheriff’s office.
