MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Commission had to vote Monday on a new chairman to take over. Commissioners elected Gary Deaton to that chair, and he says he is excited to continue the work of the county. “I’ve worked on this body for a number of years, and I’m looking forward to continuing what we’ve been doing,” Deaton said. “We feel like we’ve got a good group of people here, a good committee — 25 people who are dedicated to serving Madison County.” The county also read through their first budget hearing. Per state law, it must be voted on by the end of June. This year’s budget is a grand total of $185 million.
