NORTH JACKSON — Students of Sacred Heart High School and St. Mary’s Elementary and Middle School broke ground Monday on what will be new sports fields and athletic facilities for both schools. The groundbreaking took place at the campus of Sacred Heart High School on McClellan Road, where new soccer, baseball and softball fields will be located along with a shared field house and amenities, according to a release from school officials. Athletes from both schools were present at the groundbreaking, which is the result of efforts of the Catholic Schools Booster Club, which has joined together to manage and expand the two schools’ shared athletic facilities, according to the release. “Today’s activities signify the growth and collaboration between the two schools and the enhancement of the athletic programs to allow students to grow not only in mind, but body and spirit,” Ann Keyl, principal of Sacred Heart High School, states in the release.
