HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Cisco is a bloodhound in the K-9 unit of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. He’s one of a kind in the area. Large departments like Memphis, Nashville and Jackson don’t even have a tracker as skilled as him, and this week he proved again how valuable an officer he is. Cisco has a nose for closing cases. In his most recent, he found a 12-year-old boy with special needs in Clarksville. Henry County deputy Wayne Fuqua is Cisco’s partner. The two got the call from Middle Tennessee early Monday morning to help find a missing boy. Cisco was given one of the boy’s blankets. “He took the trail that was open and followed it to several open fields, and we just kept working until we located the young man hidden under some hay by a hay bale,” Fuqua said. Clarksville police had been looking for the boy for 15 hours, but when Cisco got onto the field he found the boy in half an hour. Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew says Cisco was brought into the department after they were forced to wait almost four hours for help from another department’s search dog. Cisco is now the one helping his and other departments find people all over Tennessee and Kentucky. “He’s found people wanted for murder, he’s found Alzheimer’s patients, he’s found burglary suspects, he’s found lost children, and this is another one he can add to his list,” Belew said. Fuqua says he’d like to see other departments invest in officers like Cisco. “Think any department that can get one would definitely benefit from it,” he said. Belew says Cisco is in the lead for officer of the year. According to Fuqua, this is not the first time the young boy ran away. He was found about a month ago after a search.

The boy’s mother, Donna Huffman, was arrested on charges of child abuse and neglect. She is being held in the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
