LEXINGTON, Tenn. — A 19-year-old was killed in a car crash around 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to police. The family said Kelvontae Parker was on his way back from watching a basketball game when he ran out of gas. The mother, Tonya Prater, said she was on her way to help him when a tractor-trailer rear-ended his 2012 Nissan. “I just want to see him open his eyes and say ‘Mama, I love you,'” Prater said. Police said the truck driver attributed the crash to low visibility. “He was unable to see him in time to react to the vehicle being in the roadway,” Capt. Jeff Middleton said. Police haven’t released the name of the truck driver and said it is too early in the investigation to determine if he will face charges.
