Man charged with forcing entry, assaulting man in apartment

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man appeared Wednesday in city court on accusations of entering a man’s Jackson apartment and assaulting him. Deandre Askew is accused of forcing his way into a man’s Lincoln Street apartment June 4 with two other people and then assaulting the resident, according to court papers. The victim told police he had been in an argument with a woman earlier and that she later returned with Askew and another man. He told officers Askew punched him in the face, the woman repeatedly kicked him in the face and the other man hit him with a chair, court papers state. The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for facial injuries. Askew is charged with aggravated burglary and simple assault. He is free on a $15,000 bond.
